Privacy & Child Safety Policy

Last updated: August 30, 2026

Our promises to families

  • No third-party advertising and no ad networks anywhere on Latter-Day Play.
  • We never sell, rent, or trade any information — especially a child's.
  • No chat, messaging, comments, uploads, or public profiles for children.
  • No behavioral tracking or advertising profiles built about your child.
  • Only a parent or guardian can create an account, and only they can delete it.
  • Children play under a first name (or nickname) and an animal avatar — nothing more.

1. Who we are

Latter-Day Play ("we," "us") provides faith-based learning games and printable activities for children roughly ages 5–12. This site is an independent family project and is not an official website of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

2. Children's privacy (COPPA)

Our service is designed for children but is directed to parents and guardians: an account may only be created and managed by an adult. We follow the principles of the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and collect the smallest amount of information possible.

What we may collect about a child: a first name or nickname chosen by the parent, a picked avatar and color, and which games the child has played (so progress and stars work). That is all.

What we never collect from a child: email addresses, phone numbers, photos or video, voice recordings, home or school address, birth date, precise location, contacts, or any free-text they could use to share personal details publicly. Children cannot upload content or communicate with anyone through the site.

3. What we collect from adults

  • Account email address and a securely hashed password.
  • An optional display name.
  • An optional flag on the account marking it for administrator access.
  • Messages you send through our Support form (your name, email, and what you wrote).
  • Basic, aggregated technical information such as error reports needed to keep the site working.

4. How we use information

Only to run the service: signing you in, remembering which kid profile is playing, saving game progress, answering your support message, and keeping the site safe and working. We do not use information for advertising or profiling, and we do not make automated decisions about your family.

5. Service providers

We use a small number of trusted providers strictly to operate the site: cloud hosting and database/authentication services, and a text-to-speech provider used to pre-record the friendly narration you hear in games. Narration is generated ahead of time — a child's microphone is never used and no child audio is ever recorded or sent anywhere. Providers may only process data on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes.

6. Cookies and storage

We use only essential cookies and local browser storage — to keep a parent signed in, remember which kid profile is active, and store sound/music preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.

7. Your rights and choices

A parent or guardian may at any time review the information tied to their family, correct a child's first name or avatar, delete a child profile, or delete the whole account and all associated data. Just ask through the Support form and we will act on verified requests within 30 days. You may also refuse to allow any further collection about your child by deleting the profile — the games will still be playable without saved progress.

8. Data retention and security

We keep account and profile data only while your account is active, plus a short period for backups. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, passwords are hashed, and access to family data is restricted by database security rules so one family can never see another family's information.

9. External links

Some pages may reference official Church resources such as Come, Follow Me materials. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them.

10. Changes and contact

If we make a material change to this policy we will post the new date at the top and, where required, ask a parent for renewed consent. Questions, concerns, or a request to delete data? Use our Support form — child safety and privacy messages are treated as urgent.
